Sonia (mother of Layla and Aisha): Might have a snack before dinner…
Child: Yeah.
Sonia: …just a little snack of fruit. What would you like to have?
Child: Some grapes.
Sonia: Do you want to grab the grapes from the fridge and the strainer and then we’ll give them a wash. And what would you like?
Child: A mandarin.
Sonia: All right. Do you want to grab the mandarin so we can peel the mandarin? I’ll grab those. You grab the strainer so we can give the grapes a wash, just put a little bit.
Child: I see.
Sonia: There’s some for me and there’s some for you. And you give that a wash.
Child: I like mandarins.
Sonia: Why do you like the grapes so much?
Child: Because they’re nice. They taste nice and they’re healthy and they’re easy to hold.
Sonia: They are, aren’t they? Why do you like mandarins so much?
Child: Because they’re healthy to eat.
Sonia: Does it give you lots of energy?
Child: Yes.
Sonia: It does, doesn’t it?
Child: They smell good and it’s good vitamin C for you.
Sonia: That’s right. Mandarins have got lots of vitamin C.
Child: And they’re easy to hold and peel.
Sonia: Do you want to peel the mandarin?
Child: Yes.
Sonia: Well done. So we’ll take all the skin off.
Child: Ready to eat then.
Sonia: Yes, and then it’s ready, easy to eat anywhere.
