More about our parent video guidance on navigating the early school years

Get parenting tips and advice on everything you need to know about raising happy, healthy kids in the early years at school. Parents can find out what to expect from development in these years and how to help their children keep growing and developing well.

There are big changes and some challenges when children start school. Our videos take parents through common family scenarios like encouraging positive behaviour and handling behaviour challenges. Our videos cover many areas of family life, including parenting in a digital world, making a family screen time plan, and keeping kids safe online. There’s information about how to get kids interested in healthy eating. Shopping together, preparing meals and eating together are all top tips – not to mention planting and picking herbs! And if children are gifted or talented, we have videos that take parents from child care to school, including ideas for working with schools and teachers to support gifted children’s development.

A highlight of this gallery is the wide selection of simple, fun and educational play ideas. They include playing with balls, going for a nature walk, making simple puppets, going on a sound hunt, making a treasure box, asking questions that spark imagination, playing outside in all kinds of weather, and using everyday materials for play. Several videos feature storytelling sessions – perfect for keeping kids engaged and entertained anytime, anywhere!
