Anne E. Stewart (storyteller): This is a story about an old lady and the old lady is sitting doing her spinning and she spins it around and down and across and while she’s spinning, she can hear something buzzing around the room. Can anyone guess what might buzz around the room?
Boy: Mosquito.
Anne E. Stewart: Oh you’re right. It’s a mosquito and she can hear it, but she can’t see it and she says, ‘Oh dear, I’d better get on with my spinning or I’ll never be finished’.
And she starts again. Down, around and across and the next time she looks up, there’s that mosquito. And the mosquito buzzes over and tries to bite her on the nose and on the cheek and the old lady said, ‘Oh no, this mosquito’s driving me crazy, what am I going to do?
‘Oh I know what, the only way to catch a mosquito is if you’re very quiet, because just when he’s about to fly up and bite me, just when he’s about to land on my nose, if I’m really quiet I’ll get him. And that mosquito’s gone’.
What do you think about that?
