More about our video guidance on the pregnancy to parent journey

Our pregnancy videos cover the physical and emotional changes parents can expect during pregnancy. Parents describe their experiences, including morning sickness, tiredness, mood changes, and relationship ups and downs. Experts talk about how nausea and vomiting might ease by the second trimester, although tiredness and discomfort are common by the third trimester. Experts also explain the importance of monitoring baby movements towards the end of pregnancy.

Parents can learn more about having a baby in different settings – public hospital, private hospital, birth centre and home. There are pros and cons for all options, and parent choices will depend on factors like cost, location, style of care, access to obstetricians and midwives, and personal preferences. These videos can help parents decide on the option that’s likely to best suit their circumstances.

To stay healthy and well during pregnancy and early parenting, it’s important for expecting parents to go to their antenatal care appointments and get support from child and family health nurses. These videos explain where and how parents can get the support they need.

Most pregnancies end with healthy babies, but miscarriages and stillbirths do happen. These are very distressing experiences, and it can help parents to know that they’re not alone. In our videos, parents can hear from others who’ve been through the experience and find out what might help them cope.

These pregnancy videos also feature advice for parents from multicultural backgrounds, parents who speak languages other than English, and vulnerable families.
