What is the Raising Healthy Minds app?

The Raising Healthy Minds app is your partner in empowering families to support their children's social and emotional wellbeing. It:

  • is free and evidence-based
  • has been co-designed with mental health practitioners, educators and parents
  • is full of easy-to-understand information and practical tips that are tailored to children’s ages and help to increase parents’ mental health literacy
  • includes a parenting toolbox that guides parents and carers to professional services and support resources in their state.

Raising Healthy Minds is an initiative of Raising Children Network and is supported by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing. It's free to download from Google Play or the App Store.

How can Raising Healthy Minds support clinical practice?

In Australia, over half a million children face significant mental health issues each year.

Parents play a crucial role in seeking help for their children’s mental health concerns, but they also face significant barriers, including an inability to recognise mental health problems and lack of knowledge of help and treatment options.

By recommending and using the app you can:

  • improve parents’ mental health literacy, making it easier for them to understand and apply your advice
  • ensure parents access evidence-based content, reducing misinformation and uncertainty
  • increase parent engagement by reinforcing strategies discussed in consultations
  • enhance patient-centred care by encouraging collaborative conversations with families
  • support continuity of care by providing parents with a resource they can use between sessions or while waiting for appointments
  • save time by directing parents to reliable, easy-to-understand mental health information.

By encouraging early intervention and helping to remove the stigma around help-seeking for mental health, we can support parents in raising healthy minds.
