What is the Raising Healthy Minds app?

The Raising Healthy Minds app is your partner in supporting children’s social and emotional wellbeing. It:

  • is free and evidence based
  • has been co-designed with educators, mental health practitioners and parents
  • is full of easy-to-understand information and practical tips that are tailored to children’s ages and that increase parents’ mental health literacy.

Many parents turn to their children’s educators for parenting information or advice. By using and sharing the app with families, you can encourage parents to try out the mental health and wellbeing strategies that you’re using at school.

Support outside the school gates

As an educator you play a crucial role in nurturing children’s mental health and resilience. You’re often the first to recognise developmental or behavioural concerns affecting children.

As well as being a handy pocket resource for parents, Raising Healthy Minds app is designed to enhance your educational influence by:

  • improving parents’ understanding of their child’s emotions, wellbeing and behaviour
  • providing short-form information on topics like friendship, neurodivergence and bullying
  • giving parents access to tips, videos and animations that encourage them to have conversations and be proactive about their child’s wellbeing
  • supporting your efforts to foster children’s social and emotional skills
  • giving parents in-home support to use strategies that you’ve discussed in parent-teacher interviews
  • giving parents tips for managing their own emotions and wellbeing
  • helping parents learn about mental health concepts, early intervention and help-seeking
  • complementing your professional knowledge with current, evidence-based perspectives on mental health.

Raising Healthy Minds is an initiative of Raising Children Network and is supported by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing. It’s free to download from Google Play or the App Store, with no in-app purchases.
