Raising Healthy Minds does not diagnose, treat or manage specific mental health conditions.

The app provides evidence-informed information, guidance and practical strategies to support:

  • children’s social and emotional wellbeing
  • early identification of concerns
  • prevention and early support
  • help-seeking and navigation to external supports

1.2 Who is the service intended for?

The service is primarily for:

  • parents, carers and guardians of children and young people (early childhood through adolescence)

The app may also be used by:

  • educators and school wellbeing staff
  • health, allied health and community professionals
  • extended family members and other support people

The app is intended for users residing in Australia.

1.3 What kind of assistance does the service offer?

The app offers:

  • clear, plain-language mental health and wellbeing information
  • guidance on children’s emotional development
  • practical, everyday strategies parents and carers can use
  • advice on when and how to seek additional support

The service is educational and supportive, not clinical.

1.4 How is the service delivered?

Raising Healthy Minds is delivered as a self-directed digital app. Users choose what content to access and when. The app may provide optional push notifications with tips and reminders, which users can opt out of at any time.

1.5 Are health professionals involved in delivering the service?

The app does not provide direct care from health professionals. Content is developed and reviewed within a clinical and technical governance framework, informed by:

  • subject matter experts
  • research evidence
  • parent, carer and professional input

Many of our content creators are practicing clinicians.

1.6 When is the service available?

The app is available 24 hours a day, subject to routine maintenance.

1.7 How much does the service cost? Is there any ongoing cost?

The Raising Healthy Minds app is free to use. There are no subscription fees or in-app purchases.

1.8 How can I access the service?

The app can be accessed by downloading it on any smartphone or tablet without a referral.

1.9 Can I access the service anonymously?

Yes. Users can access content without identifying themselves, and may choose to provide minimal information only, including using an email address that does not identify themselves, and selecting a pseudonym for their username.

1.10 Does the service allow my carer, family member or support person to work with me to use the service?

Yes. The app is designed to support shared use by parents, carers and support people involved in a child’s wellbeing.

2. Will I benefit if I use this service?

2.1 Is there any independent scientific evidence of benefit from using this service?

The service is based on best available evidence relating to:

  • child mental health and development
  • prevention and early intervention
  • parenting and family systems
  • health literacy and digital mental health

While the app itself does not claim clinical outcomes, its design reflects evidence that informed, supported parents and carers are key protective factors for children’s wellbeing.

2.2 Is the service endorsed by a government or professional body?

The service is accredited under the National Safety and Quality Digital Mental Health Service Standards, and it is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.

3. Could this service do me harm?

3.1 Are there any precautions or safety warnings related to this service?

Yes. Raising Healthy Minds:

  • is not a crisis service
  • does not provide diagnosis, treatment or emergency support
  • does not monitor individual risk or deterioration

If you or a child are experiencing serious distress or immediate risk, you should seek urgent professional help or contact emergency or crisis services.

3.2 Has anyone reported concerns or adverse health events after using this service?

No service user has ever reported concerns or adverse health events as a result of using this app. Concerns, feedback and complaints are actively monitored through governance systems.

4. Should I trust this service?

4.1 What is the business model for the service provider?

Raising Healthy Minds operates as a publicly accessible digital mental health literacy service, delivered by Raising Children Network (Australia) Ltd.

4.2 How does the service make money?

The service is free to users and does not sell user data. It is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.

5. Is the service easy to use? Will I keep using it?

5.1 Is there any independent research on how easy it is to use this service?

The app is designed using evidence from digital health usability and accessibility research, and is regularly reviewed using user feedback and testing.

5.2 How much time will it take me to use this service as suggested?

There is no set time requirement. Users can engage with short pieces of content at their own pace.

5.3 How long will it take to get results from using this service?

The app does not promise specific outcomes. It is intended to support knowledge, confidence and informed decision-making over time.

5.4 Were people with lived experience involved in developing the service?

Yes. Parents, carers and professionals with lived experience have been involved through:

6. Who will have access to my personal data?

Providing most personal information is optional, but some information is required to create and manage an account.

Personal information is managed by Raising Children Network (Australia) Ltd in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 and its Privacy Policy.

6.3 Who is that information shared with and why?

Raising Healthy Minds:

  • does not sell personal information
  • does not share identifiable personal information for advertising purposes

Information may be shared:

  • with trusted third-party service providers who support delivery and improvement of the app
  • in anonymised or aggregated form for approved research, service evaluation, learning or behavioural insights
  • where required or authorised by law

Any third-party services are required to handle information in line with privacy and security requirements.

6.4 Where is information about me stored?

Personal information is stored in secure databases based in Australia and accessed only by authorised Raising Children Network staff or approved service providers.

6.5 Can I easily share my information and results if I want to?

Where desired, users may choose to share information themselves. The app does not automatically share personal information with other services.

6.6 Can I save the personal information I enter on my device without it being shared with the provider?

Some information is stored locally on your device, while other information is stored securely by the service to enable account functionality and personalised content.

6.7 Can I review and/or delete data that has been collected about me?

Yes. You can:

  • access, update or correct your personal information
  • request deletion or anonymisation of your data
  • close your account at any time

Requests can be made through your account settings or by contacting the service.
