Managing anxiety in your family: skill-building webinars

Anxiety is more than just being worried – it’s a mental health issue that can affect your wellbeing and quality of life. Both adults and children can suffer from anxiety, and other people’s anxiety can also affect us.

You’re invited to join two free, live webinars on managing anxiety in your family.

In the first webinar, child and family psychologist Dr Meredith Rayner will take you through skills for managing anxiety. These skills can improve your child’s wellbeing – and yours too! After that, you’ll have time to practise what you’ve learned before joining the second webinar for a Q&A session with more tips and advice.

These webinars are suitable for parents and carers of children 0-16 years.

Managing anxiety in your family webinars

1. Skills to manage anxiety in your family

This webinar was held on 17 November 2020. You can view the recording of this webinar below.

In the first webinar, you’ll learn skills to help you manage your anxiety – and to help your child manage theirs. These skills include:

  • trusting emotions – accepting that all feelings are OK (but not all behaviours are OK)
  • mindfulness – understanding why it helps and how to do it.

2. Managing anxiety in your family Q&A

Tuesday, 19 January 2021, 8 pm AEDT

In the second webinar, you’ll have the chance to share your experiences, ask follow-up questions and hear more ideas on managing anxiety in your family.

Duration: 60 minutes

Presented by: Dr Meredith Rayner

Meredith Rayner is a child and family psychologist with many years of experience working with parents, young children and adolescents in public mental health, private clinical practice and schools. She’s currently Director of Care in a large school setting, where she helps children work on their strengths and addresses mental health challenges for children from Foundation to Year 12.

Sign up to join the free, live Q&A webinar on managing anxiety. You’ll receive a link to join the Q&A webinar and a link to the recording of the first webinar. You’ll also receive a recording of the Q&A webinar after the event, even if you can’t attend live.

I’ve signed up: what happens next?

A few minutes after you sign up, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a link that gives you access to the second webinar – the Q&A style event on 19 January 2021. You’ll also receive a link to the recording of the first webinar (held 8 December 2020).

To get the most out of these webinars, we recommend you watch the recording of the first webinar and practise some of the skills before attending the second webinar.

You’ll be able to access the second webinar 30 minutes before the start time. We’ll also send you reminder emails before the event. We’ll send you a link to the recording of the second webinar a few days after the event.
