Story

Laura Price (Saskia Hampele) is a highly successful corporate lawyer. She’s waiting for her next promotion to become a partner in the law firm she works for. Laura is engaged to Owen (Craig Horner), an equally successful lawyer who seems to have little time for her.

One day Laura is approached by Graham Finlay (Martin Portus). He’s an old family friend who owns a million-dollar business, and he wants Laura to convince his grandson, Chip (Liam McIntyre), to take over his business. Laura sees this business opportunity as her chance to make partner. She therefore agrees to travel back to her hometown of Sapphire Cove, a beautiful tropical paradise.

Chip, however, is determined not to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps. He wants to keep living a carefree life, fishing, sailing his boat, hiking and horse-riding. He’s very happy to see Laura, his childhood best friend, but finds her very different from when he knew her in childhood.

Laura finds herself reconnecting with her past and discovering what she’s missing in her high-pressured world. Together Laura and Chip discover mutual values and ambitions that they hope will make the world a better place.

Ideas to discuss with your children

This Little Love of Mine is a feel-good romance about what’s important in life. The movie is set in a beautiful location, which reinforces its messages about appreciating nature and enjoying the simple things in life.

There’s nothing harmful in This Little Love of Mine for young children, but its content is unlikely to interest them. Therefore this movie is best suited to teenagers and above, and we recommend parental guidance for children under eight years.

The main messages from This Little Love of Mine are to enjoy the simple pleasures of life and to understand that love is the ‘beginning and the end of everything’.

Values in This Little Love of Mine that you could reinforce with your children include:

  • being outside and enjoying nature rather than being on electronic devices
  • using your influence for common good rather than personal gain.

This Little Love of Mine could also give you the chance to talk with your children about real-life issues, like Chip’s determination to live his own life and refuse a role in his grandfather’s business.
