Kids need lots of sleep

Kids need lots of sleep to learn, grow and behave well.

Bedtime routines help kids get good sleep – dinner, bath, teeth, bed, story and sleep.

Water is best before bed if kids are thirsty.

Getting ready for bed

Tell bedtime stories and give hugs.

Kids need peace and comfort to sleep.

Put noisy ones out. Keep volume down.

Safe sleep for babies

Keep your baby safe in bed. Put your baby to sleep in their own space. No drink or drugs if you sleep near your baby.

Put your baby to sleep on their back, head uncovered. Use a firm, flat mattress and safe bedding. Keep the sleep space clear – no pillows, padding or toys.

No smoking around babies or kids in bed or any time.
