Kids need lots of sleep

Kids need lots of sleep to grow, develop and learn to behave.

Bedtime routines help kids get good sleep – dinner, bath, teeth, bed, story and sleep.

Water is best before bed if kids are thirsty.
Getting kids ready for bed

Tell bedtime stories and give hugs.

Kids need peace and comfort to sleep.

Keep things quiet. Move noisy people away from sleeping kids.
Safe sleep for babies

Keep your baby safe in bed. Don’t co-sleep if you or your partner uses alcohol or drugs.

Put your baby to sleep on their back, head uncovered. Use a firm, flat mattress and safe bedding. Keep the sleep space clear – no pillows, padding or toys.

No smoking or vaping around babies or kids in bed or any time.
