Keep your baby healthy with breastmilk and health checks

Breast is best.

Feed when your baby is hungry, as often as needed. For newborn babies, this is usually every 2-3 hours, up to 8-12 times a day.

Take your baby for regular health checks.
Food and drink by age

Breastmilk or infant formula only.
No water before 6 months.

Add smooth or finely mashed food, then roughly mashed food, and then chopped food.
No cow’s milk as a main drink before 12 months.

Share the family meal.
Feeding, health and hygiene: things to remember

Make feeding babies and kids the top priority. Prevent choking by watching babies and kids while they eat.

Wash hands often. Clean the kitchen to stop sickness.

Look after yourself too. Eat healthy food and rest.
