The Raising Mob Our Way project is a collaboration between the Raising Children Network and Nyoka Fetoa'I Consulting, which aims to develop culturally-safe ways of engaging First Nations communities in conversations about positive parenting of children aged 0-5 years.
An Oversight Body comprised of local traditional Dharumbal/Darumbal custodians with lived experience in raising and supporting First Nations children and families has been established to provide cultural guidance and make sure the plan to support families in their community is appropriate.
The initiative will focus on celebrating and promoting traditional parenting practices, encouraging families to participate in Raising Mob Our Way events and fostering relationships with local Elders, parents, carers and community organisations.
The Raising Mob Our Way project will include a variety of community engagement initiatives to gather information to guide the development of culturally-relevant parenting resources. These will include:
- workshops for parents and carers through local services, including childcare and family support providers
- TikTok live sessions
- online surveys
- face-to-face interviews with First Nations Elders.
