| My daughter is 29 months and has suddenly become very controlling when anyone wants to leave her. She screams day care down if either myself or my husband drop her off. She does the same thing when the carers need to go home or to the toilet. This is pretty sudden, no change of routine or anything that might mark this change of behaviour. Does anyone have any ideas how to nip this contolling behaviour or anxiety in the bud?

Since you are very sure that nothing special happened before this behaviour starts, then its just a way of showing independence from the child. At the age of 2, kids starts to develop their mind and starts to make decision for themselves. Have you gone through that stage whereby you ask her, which dress do you want to wear, showing pink and red. first she tells you pink. when you keep the red. she screams "I want red!". so you brought out the red and puts it on her, she shouts again "no, I want pink!" These are simple signs that shows that she is developing a mind of her own, she wants to make decision for herself. same for keeping people with her, she is not lack of security (if you are very sure that nothing special happened before this behaviour starts), she just want to CHOOSE to have it her way. That's the child's mind at work.
