| Great! Every family has do do what works best for them. I know a lot of mums that worry and feel judged on both sides of the fence, working mums and stay at home mums.

| Good on them, I think every family needs to do what is right for them and lets face it it is not easy to be the stay at home parent let alone a Dad. Parenting facilities have a long way to come in being able to cater to stay at home Dads though. my cousin is a stay at home Dad and he found doing the shopping with his girls difficult, especially when they were babies because the parent rooms in shopping centers in his area have to be accessed via the ladies toilet, or were in the ladies toilets.

| As a SAHM, anyone who is a stay at home parent has my support and understanding. It is such a demanding job and I can't understand the attitude that men could be considered less masculine for staying at home. I remember reading somewhere that being a stay at home parent is the equivalent of having two full time jobs. I can see how that comparison was reached, when you consider things like needing to be available 24 hours and the effort and care that must go into all of your daily tasks with little time or opportunity to do much for yourself - and that's before you even start to think about housework! I agree that each family does what they need to do and if that means that Dad is at home, then that must be the best option for that family. There is a certain attractive masculinity in my husband making all the money that we need. Having said that, nothing makes him more attractive to me than being a great Dad and I think that a man who stays at home to care for his children is highly admirable.

My husband and I both wanted to be the stay at home parents! So we came up with a compromise where, I work outside the house three days a week so he looks after our daughter, and he works from home when he gets the time! I think he thought he'd get a lot more done I love that my husband is so keen to play an active role in raising our daughter and is so active in her day to day care. If anything I sometimes get a little jealous of the days that he gets to spend at home with her without me. As some one else said I guess each family has to do what is right for them, but I love my husband for wanting to be, and being, a stay at home day. He tells people with pride that is what he does!

I hate the idea It means that i would'nt be a SAHM. why should he get all the good jobs.Ok this springs to mind: My DD1 lost her shoe and her and DH set out to find it. well im sure we have all experienced the way men look for things, add to the equation a 4yr old girl, Not a hope in the world. I found the shoe in the middle of the loung room floor! I think i would have to leave my mobile phone on all day just for those "emergancys" seriously though, Im not sure my DH is cut out for the job but if i wasn't able to be at home then i would love my replacement to be him. I would love him so much more for even sujesting it. But if it wasn't my DH we were discussing then.......not sure what i think, in all honisty im more of a traditional girl and are very sceptical about the nurturing side of a SAHD. i have no doubt that anyone can learn to keep a house and kids clean and alive but i always think about the little things.
