| Hi My sister is the proud Mum of a beautiful 3 month old girl. She would like to join a mothers group but is having trouble finding a suitable group. In the Brisbane area where should she start looking? Thanks

| Hi ya We're a gay couple with a 17mth old daughter who are about to move to the Brisbane area and are looking for a group - social and supportive. I'm from Redcliffe and my family and friends are all there so we're coming home to raise our Daughter the Aussie way! We live in the UK where it's all abit more open and easier, hopefully things are changing out there too! Jonathan, Douglas & Ellen

We too are from Brisbane, and are also looking for an LGBT parenting group. If anyone knows of any it would be great to hear of. If not, we should start our own!! Rhi

| Hi How exciting to see a response on these forums - seems to take forever - is it because it's summer and sunny out there? We're looking forward to our move to Brisbane - we were there in July and August and are desperate to get back. I grew up on the north side - well Redcliffe to be exact but don't hold that against me!!!! I had such a great child hood I really want our daughter to have the same - if possible and slightly more modern. My partner is Scottish so it was either the sunshine of Queensland or the Scottish Highlands! Do keep in touch it would be great to have some new friends when we arrive (later this year). How hold is your child/children? Where abouts do you live? What sort of experience have you had? Happyhouse

| Our little girl is 2. We live in Stafford, just north of brisbane. We're two young mums (18) but if you don't hold that agaisnt us, we wont hold living in Redcliffe against you, lol, I can't talk though, I grew up in Woodridge. Which is worse. By far. I think it would be great that if we can't find a parenting group to make one ourselves, it could kick off really well!! Rhi

| I think Brisbane has become the most accepting place for gay couples with children. Everyone seems to be moving here. I have heard of a gay group, but i will have to get back to you all with the details. If not always look up Open Doors Brisbane via Google, and im sure they will have the phone numbers needed. -Sarah

| Hi guys Great to hear from you! So okay, we're even on the Woodridge/Redcliffe debate!! Still Stafford is very nice - my sister lives in Chermside - the northside is really taking off - I remember when it was just the Websters Biscuity Factory and car yards! (oh I think it still is to a degree!) Our little girl, Ellen is 19mths old. She was born via surrogate by my Partner's (Douglas) first cousin. She is in a same sex relationship, and had a child by donation in the US and wanted to pay it forward - and selected us. It was the most amazing experience in our lives - prior to that we had looked at adoption (which is legal in the UK) and where approved for 1 child. But, hey, things work out the way the universe want to and now here we are with our most beautiful daughter. We're hearing really positive things about gay families in Brisbane. When we were there in August/July I went to a family reunion (I come from a really large family!) and all of my aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and neices were really supportive and excited about being part of our family - it was so overwhelming. To balance it I've got two "bogan" brothers who were a bit stand off-ish - but they're always been like that. I've attached a photo of our beautiful little girl for you - we're so looking forward to getting home - our house is on the market this week and as long as we can sell by April - we'll be there by July - hooray!!
speak soon J&D and little E

| Yeah, there's always bound to be some people who are a bit stand-offish, but it's great that you've got a lot of supportive family. I really think we should do a group on here, meet somewhere like chermside, or maybe even southbank, it doesnt have to be really regular, just somewhere that the kids can play, and parents chat. Rhi
