I wouldn't worry about it.  My son wouldn't roll either.  He was more interested in trying to sit up.  Some of my friends babies would roll, roll and roll but others just weren't that keen.  Their development wasn't affected in anyway.

My son started rolling by about 2 months of age, but I think every child is different and does things at different ages, it does not necessarily mean there is a problem. But to be on the safe side there is no harm in asking your doctor, if nothing else it will put your mind at ease.

Remember not to compare your baby with others.

Neither of my children rolled at all.  They went straight to sitting and they both hated tummy time.  I personally couldn't be bothered with the distress they were under for tummy time so I didn't do it.  Both my two have developed fine without tummy time or rolling and they are both walking normally.  If your bub is strong (sorry while I typing this I can't remember how old) try a Jolly Jumper - my two had hours of happy jumping.  Good luck, also remember that Health Centres are very much 'by the book' and every bub is different.

I wouldn't worry at all. My 3 year old rolled at 7 months (he was the last in our group of mums) and now he flies around everywhere. Enjoy it while they can't move!!!!

I am in exactly the same situation. I have 5 & 1/2 month old bub who has no interest in rolling over & also hates tummy time. She loves standing up though & has really strong legs. Apparently my mother told me that I was the same as a baby; almost completely omitted the crawling stage.  Decided I wanted to sit up one day & then in no time at all was pulling myself up to stand. My mother was dumbfounded as to why I didnt crawl. One of my friends who is a mothercraft R/N also said its not uncommon.. every baby is different as long as theyre healthy / thriving & interacting normally, dont fret.

my son started rolling fromhis tummy to backat 2 months, and just rolled over from his back to belly 4 days ago, he will be 6 months next week.
all babies develop at different times, he was a few weeks behind other babies his age, but he enjoyed sitting more, and could do it better than the others that could roll.

My little man is 5mths and has rolled a few times from tummy to back but has no interest in rolling back to tummy, and for the last week can't be bothered rolling front to back either. He was premmy by 6wks so I'm not worried because his adjusted age is only 3.5mths. I just wanted to know of any ideas to entice him.

He's a very contented baby as a rule and doesn't really get too worked up about much. I'm not worried about leaving him to his own schedule but I'd like to encourage him where possible.

Has anyone done any activities that encouraged or helped their baby to roll? Other than rolling them over (which I already do).
