He was diagnosed with high functioning ASD near two yrs ago...Yes this is Very new in Australia, and am compelled to share the info, as i spent Many months researching the use of and benefits of an Autism Assistant Dog
To us, it fills a void.... the speech therapist does her thing, the OT does her thing, the special Pr-School help too, and we work with him at home,,,
But our son Bolts ! what if he gets lost, what if he gets out of the property ???
He won't answer when we call, won't respond to his name ???
and what of his meltdowns ? and lack of solid forms of social friendships ?
Look ,I could go on, and it really is an individual thing, it is not for everyone, but for us, well our son has always had a "thing" for animals, he loves them, relates to them...
Our son's *** dog, will help us keep him safe, will be his Constant companion, will make it possible for us to take him out and do more everyday things, with full public access, will help keep him calm, will track him if he gets away from us...
we are going through Smart Pups in QLD they have been fantastic ! and no they don't even know im writing this ! have lots of links on the subject etc if your interested !
Autism doctor in Brisbane?

Does anyone know of a good GP or physician who specialises in ASD in Brisbane? I am not necessarily looking for a biomedical practitioner, but someone who can advise us about all the different approaches and can advise on diet/ nutrition / supplements / immune function and general overall health.
