Search box - diagnose connection problems

Well, Webmaster, I posted that I am having problems with the site dropping to "Diagnose connection problems" and you haven't responded to this.

For 2 days I have tried to use the search box at the bottom of the ASD forum and it has dropped me to the "Diagnose connection problems".

It is only your site that does it. Could you please fix this or explain what is going on.

Hi Webmaster,

I am writing to inform you about my concerns over the speed of the ASD forum. Many posters are very concerned about the speed and complaining that when they post they either lose their post or they are sent to 'can't diagnose problems' page. We were recently informed that all these issues were being dealt with and the speed issue was also being rectified. Could you update us on this progress? Unfortunately loyal readers of this forum are now leaving the site for other forums or facebook and it would very sad to see such a wonderful resource for other parents diminish in any way.

Me again...

I'm finding this forum extremely slow. Maybe there are too many old posts on there that no one looks at, perhaps archiving them or deleting them altogether may speed up the forum. We need greater speed as we are definately going to lose older, loyal parents that have the wealth of knowledge and experience to help the newbies. This ASD forum can't afford to lose them.

Then when I finally responded to a post in the ASD forum and then went to return to look at other posts I received the following error message:

Forums offline tonight

As some users have noted, the website has been experiencing quite a few issues lately, related to speed, error messages and 'leaving this site' warnings in the forums.

Thanks to everyone for your patience while we sort this out.

We are working on a major hardware upgrade to resolve the slow site speed and bring it up to speed (so to speak!). We're hoping to finish the upgrade in 5 working days. I'll post a confirmation of this timing as soon as possible.

The 'leaving this site' message was tricky to resolve. We think it's now fixed. However, if you're still getting this message when moving around the forums, pls email webmaster@raisingchildren.net.au.

Some users have reported other error messages while in the forums. These may be related to the 'background' fixes we've been applying to upgrade the site speed. However, we'd like to confirm this. If you are getting error messages in the forums, pls email me the details at webmaster@raisingchildren.net.au. The more information we have, the better, so thanks in advance for your help.

Can the webmaster please clear his/her inbox so I can send a reply to my PM from them!!!!!!!!!!

Diagnose connection problems

Well, last 2 days at least this site, and this site ONLY has been dropping me to "diagnose connection problems" when I'm trying to get to a forum page, or when I do a "reply". I can open the forum, get back in often enough, and it drops on the exact same action.

Sometimes when moving from thread to thread within the RCN forums, I get the "leaving this site message" even though I am not. It was particularly bad a couple of months ago but is still doing it occasionally. Several others who regularly post on the autism thread have noticed the same thing (see "weird threads").

Spammers

Hello

The forums seem to be over run with spammers at the moment. Is there any way you can manage this or is it best for us to just advise you of user names?

Two for example are prajan and sallychen

Is there any need for users to be able to add hyperlinks? Because if this option was eliminated, it would stop the spammers as they would have no reason to come to this forum. If genuine users wanted to send someone a hyperlink they could send a private message. Just a thought on how you might be able to control this.

Logging back on even though "rememer me" box is checked

OK can't PM you as the box is full, again.

After reloading the computer, the forum is still asking me to log back in between visits. It used to always practically leave me logged on until recent changes were made to the forum.

At least it was fixed recently though to spit back to the page that users were trying to use before the loggin page came up.

It seems strange too, but the forum is a lot slower lately. Perhaps it has more people on it lately, but other websites are processing much quicker than this one, so it's not my connection, or provider etc.

What happened to half the users avatars and how come I have to log back on always

The forum has been different lately. I notice I have to log in everytime I come here rather than being remembered. Could be my computer but it happened to co-incide with about the same time moderatormel changed the forum set up.

Then all the avatars have recently been changed to an "x". What did you do? Looks irritating to me.

trouble posting

Like I was. Did you update to explorer 8? Like I just did. Then all you need to do is hit the compatibility view on the tab...it looks like a broken page and all errors are fixed..hopefully.

Spell check help

Hi Team,

i was wondering if you can help answer my question.

Sometimes i am not allowed to have a complete spell check when i have written a post, can you please advise? Is it something top do with the permission level?

And one last question, i need to stop having new topic notifications email. In fact, my email address, the one which i am using in this forum is my work one and basicaly i am not allowed to have personal notifications which are not related to my work, i don't know how i landed having this, i have these notifications only for the toddler forum and not for mums and all, do you have a suggestion(s) for me???
