Professor Susan Sawyer is Professor of Adolescent Health at The University of Melbourne. A paediatrician by training, she is the Director of the Centre for Adolescent Health at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia’s largest centre of excellence in adolescent health.
Professor Sawyer has a particular interest in promoting the acquisition of professional skills in those who work with young people, and in ensuring that the orientation of health services is ‘adolescent friendly’ in order to achieve the best health and life outcomes for young people.
Having authored over 200 academic publications and reports, she is sought after as a mentor and supervisor of students, clinicians and researchers alike.
Professor Sawyer contributes to policy debates that drive clinical practice and is committed to translating research to practice through her participation in various government, community and consumer committees and initiatives.
