Sandra Cheeseman is a lecturer in social policy and early childhood curriculum at the Institute of Early Childhood, Macquarie University.  Her current research is focussing on the experiences of infants and toddlers in long day care settings. As a member of the writing team that developed the Early Years Learning Framework on behalf of the Australian Government, she continues to investigate the influence of this document on the lives and experiences of our very youngest children.

Sandra has worked extensively in the early childhood field as a teacher and director in long day care settings and in senior management roles supporting the professional development of children’s services staff. She has for many years been actively involved as an advocate and champion for young children through her participation on the executive of Early Childhood Australia (NSW Branch) and Niftey NSW. Sandra is a strong advocate for the entitlement of all children to high quality early childhood experiences and the public provision of programs that enable this.
