- The aim of the organisation is to tackle the issues that really matter to consumers, arming them with the information to make confident choices and lobbying for change when consumers are getting a raw deal.
Children's product safety
CHOICE is committed to product safety, particularly children's products. In the past, the organisation has successfully lobbied for changes to the law to improve product safety.
Kidsafe NSW estimates that each year injuries from nursery products alone result in:
- 6,500 children needing medical attention
- 540 children being admitted to hospital
- 10 child deaths
CHOICE regularly tests children's products but still finds models that fail mandatory safety standards.
CHOICE and the Raising Children Network
CHOICE is happy to support the Raising Children Network to provide useful, practical information to parents so that they can make the best decisions for their families. Parents as consumers need to feel confident and knowledgeable about their purchases. CHOICE will continue to test products and to lobby producers to market safe products.
An independent voice
CHOICE is fiercely independent: the organisation doesn't receive ongoing funding from any commercial, government or other organisation. CHOICE earns the money to buy all the products they use to test and support their campaigns through the sale of their products and services, such as CHOICE Online, magazines and books.
