Parenting and holidays podcast (PDF 151kb)

Psychologist Warren Cann talks with 3RRR radio host Jacinta Parsons about surviving school holidays with children.

If you're staying at home, you might need to agree to some limits on screen time or device-free days. If you're going away, planning ahead can reduce holiday stress. Holidaying with friends and other families is a good experience for children and can take pressure off parents. There is a temptation to relax routines while we are on holidays, but make sure the kids get enough sleep. Lack of sleep can make them hyperactive and irritable which will make things harder for you.
