At Hector’s World, your child can learn how to stay safe when they play on the internet.

Netty's World websiteHector’s World is a website designed to teach young children how to use the internet safely. While they play in Hector’s World, they learn important messages about internet safety in an interactive and safe environment.

Hector’s World is designed for children in lower to upper primary school (aged five to eleven) who use the internet. The site was developed by NetAlert, Australia’s internet safety advisory organisation.

Parents are encouraged to take children through Hector’s World stories. In these online videos, children learn important internet safety messages through a series of adventures. These safety messages include information about:

  • keeping personal information safe
  • dealing with cyberbullying
  • learning to be a good cybercitizen.

These are the safety messages young children need to remember when using the internet.

After discovering Hector’s World stories, children can explore other sections of the site, including:

  • Meet Hector’s Friends
  • Fun Kit
  • THINK.

These sections help to reinforce the safety messages in a fun and interactive manner.

Hector’s World also contains a For Teachers section. This provides lesson plans to accompany each episode of the Hector’s World stories. These lesson plans include activities designed to reinforce the messages in Hector’s World stories and develop further understanding of internet safety.
