Ms Kelly O'Brien is an educational psychologist with experience in early childhood, early intervention, primary school and secondary school settings. Working as a genetic counsellor, Kelly first developed an interest in working with parents and young people. Later, in her role in early intervention, she inaugurated a series of group-based intervention programs that focused on the development of social and communication skills in children with autism spectrum disorders. Kelly has contributed to books, journals, newsletters and local and state media in the area of health and wellbeing for children and adolescents.

Kelly is currently working as the psychologist at a major independent school in Melbourne where she oversees the local implementation of Act-Belong-Commit, the first comprehensive, community-wide positive mental health promotion campaign undertaken anywhere in the world. Her work continually entwines her passion towards whole school approaches involving students, staff, parents and the wider community.
