Dr Karen New is a midwifery clinical academic fellow at the University of Queensland and the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital.
Karen’s clinical expertise in premature birth and early detection of at-risk mothers includes her experience with the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand and the Cochrane Collaboration. Her current interests relate to pre-conceptual, early pregnancy and neonatal care.
Karen leads delegations to Papua New Guinea, teaching and training in newborn resuscitation and essential newborn care. She has also facilitated a maternal, newborn and child health course for Australian Awardees in Tanzania.
Karen is the President of the Council of International Neonatal Nurses; the Professional Officer of the Australian College of Neonatal Nurses; and current Chair of the Board of Cochrane Innovations.
