Ms Jenny Walsh is the Manager of Education Programs, Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society, La Trobe University. Her job is to make sure the Centre’s research informs education, and is informed by community needs, especially as it relates to children and young people, parents, and schools.

Originally trained as a primary school teacher, and continuing study in adult education and community development, Jenny has been teaching sexuality education and providing professional development to students, teachers, health professionals and parents for 20 years, on sexuality, relationships, gender and homophobia.
Recent projects and roles include:

  • Catching On Early – Sexuality Teaching Resource for Victorian Primary Schools for the Department of Education and Early Children Development (Just released April 2011) 
  • adviser, Health Promotion and Education, to National Sexually Transmissible Infections Strategy Reference Group (2009-2013)
  • Supporting Parents to Talk to their Children about Sex – in Western Australia (to be released, 2011) for the Western Australian (WA) Department of Health.
  • writer and project manager of education media including a website on puberty written for pre-pubertal children,; and the DVD Chlamydia – The Secret is Out; and KISSS – the keep it simple safe sex guide for Australian young people.
