Virginia is currently Manager Research of the NSW Centre for Parenting and Research in the NSW Department of Community Services. In this role she has responsibility for preparation of the DoCS Research Agenda, working collaboratively with policy makers and field staff to implement reforms in policy and practice, and establishing collaborative research links with universities and external researchers.
Virginia is also Adjunct Professor in the Centre for Midwifery and Family Health in the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Health at the University of Technology, Sydney. She has over 20 years experience in clinical practice as a nurse working with families with children under five years of age, as well as experience in education, research and consultancy.
She has conducted research in the area of parenting education, and has a particular interest in evidence-based parenting programs for families with children aged 2-8 years. In addition, Virginia has researched motherhood, fatherhood, supporting parents with infants in neonatal nurseries and postnatal care.
