Dr van der Mei is an epidemiologist working on identifying factors that influence risk of multiple sclerosis and the progression of the disease (for example, sun exposure, vitamin D, Epstein-Barr virus). She also works with data on vitamin D levels in the general population and on gene-environment interactions.
