The Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) provides national leadership and works in collaboration with the States and Territories, industry, other agencies and the community in support of the government’s objectives. They develop and implement policies to ensure the continuing relevance of education, science and training to contemporary needs and the growing requirement for lifelong learning. They also ensure high quality and value for money in delivering government funded programs.

DEST have a number of publications in their website relating to all aspects of education and training.

DEST have made available two brochures for the RCN website related to teaching numeracy in the early years and the middle primary years.
