Mum: Is it okay to talk to you now, Izzy?
Izzy: I guess.
Mum: Your Dad and I are worried about you. What’s go— this lying around in bed all day, missing school. It’s not like you. You’re tired all the time, you’ve never been sick like this before.
Dad: Nothing bad is going to happen, Izzy.
Izzy: You just… never mind.
Mum: Go on.
Izzy: You just don’t get it. Look at me! I don’t even know what’s happening to me.
Mum: We can see that it’s hard.
Izzy: Blah, blah, blah, blah. I tried to stop it, okay! I tried but it got worse. And I don’t even know who’s doing it.
Mum: Who’s doing what? It’s normal to try and work things out yourself.
Izzy: I should be able to fix it myself. They’re my friends.
Mum: We can see that you’re trying to work it out.
Izzy: That’s why I don’t go on Face- on the computer much anymore. I hate it, okay! All the photos, they’re so mean and embarrassing and they’re not even true! I don’t have any friends anymore and I’m not going back to school. You’ll take this computer away now.
Mum: Izzy, we can see that it’s upsetting but it’s good that you talk to us because your Dad and I can help you.
Izzy: I knew this would happen. I don’t want…
Dad: We won’t take the computer off you but we can talk some more about that later and go to the school to get their help.
Mum: Sometimes it’s okay to get help from others.
